the cats have something to say...
ooh, are you going to come back looking like a lion??
I'm combing away here and STILL find swatches of black fur on the couch. From the cat, that is!!!
Good plan. Hope all goes well. Deb
Poor Skootch. Mats and tangles are never fun!
I don't blame you for kicking up a stink, Skootch! Anyone who interferes with one's furs uninvited should be severely reprimanded. On the other paw, infection is not nice !!!! Xoxox
Wow, some kitties are really difficult! None of us are too bad - Boodie does not complain (and fortunately she never mats too badly), but she gets distracted!
Poor Skootch! Well, it IS better to get them dealt with early. We sure hope everything goes well.
uh oh!!!! I bet they will do it super gently though!
Our Maine Coon, Koneko, tends to get really bad mats. We used to try to comb them out ourselves but he hated that and would hiss and scratch and try to bite. I bought an Oster brush for him and it works beyond great. Of course, at first we had to get all the tangles out, but the Oster has curved "blades" that actually cut through the mats, without being sharp to the touch. Our biggest issue with Koneko was dealing with the mats on his stomach, but now not only does he let us brush him, but he actually purrs when I'm brushing him. It doesn't pull on the mats like a regular comb or brush, but "cuts" through them. Once I got the tangles out of him the first time, it's been easy keeping them away. I love the Furminator on my dogs and other two cats, but it doesn't work at all on Koneko. For him it's got to be the Oster.
would you mind telling me exactly what your Oster product is called? I went online, and there are many different products.
It's by Oster and called a Shedzilla. I got mine at Walmart and it's the 18-blade model. They have larger ones, but this one is considered to be cat-sized. It's not as good on short fur, but works amazing on longer fur - especially fur that gets matted easily. (I responded to your e-mail, too.)
We been there--done that!
Skootch, I remember last year, and we all were worried about you then! The v-e-t will treat you like a king.
We're so glad we've got short furs!~Wally & Ernie
Mom will have to learn how to draw nekkid kitties cos we want an Artists' Rendition of your new furdo!
Oops! That's never good news…Purrs,The Chans
ooooooh we just got furminated yesterday! And do you know what that devious human DID? She'd distract us with the Neko SPIDER wand toy, then get in a few strokes before we had time to protest. FOUL! FOUL!
Oh you poor dear. Hope you aren't going to be forced to get a lion cut. Those can be so embarrassing. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Skootch, Are you sure you don't your mommy to comb you ?O.K. I can sacrifice myself...*** roll belly up with no shame ***" DO ME !!!! "
Oh poor sweetie! I hope efurrything went well at the v-e-t. I have longish fur, but it's usually cool here and I don't get mats. Plus, the only think I really love in this world is being brushed so usually my furs don't stay on me long enough to get matted. I hope you got all smoothed out, Buddy!
I'm so thankful Nahum's long furs don't mat. And he likes a good brushing. We furminated him the other day and he loved it. Hope Skootch survived the dreaded vet!
Your mommy has so much talent! My Human thought of her when she tried to draw a couple stick figures on my blog today. Sooooooo lame!
