Our human use slicker brush to comb out the tangles on Pebble. Once tangles got so bad near Pebbles rear, our human use a scissors to trim the fur. No more tangles there. Purrs!
Aw mats are no fun... seems to be the year for it.. Star hardly ever gets mats, but I've had to cut a few out of her recently, and a couple out of Leo! Luckily none were close to skin! We hope you get rid of yours soon!
I had a long haired boy who had belly fur that got out of control, so I found a pair of really good clippers on sale for really cheap I bought them. Fortunately he let me shave a good deal of it off. (I didn't go down to the skin, just some where near his belly) When I worked at the vet we would have clients come in with their kitties every six weeks or so for nail trims and fur reduction.
You asked on my blog which FFM was my kitty's favorite. Fortunately for me my cats eat pretty much anything (well except for Honest Kitchen stuff apparently) so I don't think that what they like is a good endorsement that everyone or anyone else will like it. They are the 'Mikey' of the cat world.
Uh oh! I have to do stealth-snippings on tummy mats when my fluffy cat is blissed out and getting a tummy rub. :) "Honey, quick! hand me the scissors!"
I used to have a long-haired kitty and even though I brushed her all the time (she loved it) mats would appear out of nowhere!!! It was a mystery to that they formed at all with so much grooming.
Oh you poor knotty Skootch. Probably Mommy tickled you! It sounds like you need to go naked in the tummy :)
ReplyDeleteOUR terrible Mommy would call the mobile groomer...she is mean.
ReplyDeleteShe also has a wide-tooth metal comb that works. When we Allow it, that is.
Possibly a quick little shave, very fast, and it won't hurt at all. You just have to be patient for a second, and then a yummy treat, yay!
ReplyDeleteMy fluffy Nahum is starting to get mats on his luxurious furs too. need more brushing!
ReplyDeleteyou poor baby! Maybe she should get you high on catnip first :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe a few treats might make brushing more tolerable. My cats and I will think happy thoughts for you and your fur.
