Catching up, #3

I had been dreading Wilbur's trip to the vet. Sure enough, he proved too wily and determined for me. In between each attempt at loading he would run away and hide. I would coax him out with treats and toys and I STILL couldn't get him in. During the third attempt he drew blood, and I admitted defeat. I called the vet and cancelled his appointment.

  2. Wilbur, you really shouldn't scratch your momma! I feel your pain; every new vet visit brings a fresh set of chasing, fighting, howling...and that's just the humans! The hubby's newest angle: we put the carrier out a day or two ahead, then the day of a vet visit, he finds subject cat while he or she is still sleeping, grabs and stuffs!

    1. That carrier has been sitting out in the open for a year. I just ordered Cat-In-a-Bag, gonna try that next

  3. Do you leave the carrier out all of the time? If not, try it and get one that opens from the top (as well as the front).........when you leave it out all of the time they don't associate it with the Vet.

  8. Wilbur is one smart guy! Well, our human always clip our nails so however hard we scratch our vet, it does not draw blood.

  9. when I worked at the vet, they would recommend pillow cases for cats who hated carriers. You can either tie it or put the whole thing in the carrier once the cat was in the pillowcase.

  11. OMC, this is EXACTLY what my mom is facing with Izzy. I know when I give her my best hard time getting in the troll box, it winds up where we both get very upset, so no one's looking forward to the Izzy event. We think the Cat Police will be sending us a late notice for shots and license any day now.

    1. I just ordered "cat-in-a-bag". It's a different kind of carrier, kind of like Connie's pillowcase trick. I haven't tried it out on Wilbur yet. Fingers crossed!
