Mom is under some deadline pressure today, so we won't be doing any cat posts until tomorrow (or tonight maybe if she has time). Stay tuned ........

We have gotten through the weekend without incident! Skootch has maintained his newfound enthusiasm for food. Tomorrow evening is the next time I can give him another appetite stimulant pill. I will give it to him if he seems to lose interest in food - he needs to make up some ground and fatten up.
With all those phone calls and trips to the vet last week I managed to neglect my work (and the blog), and next week will bring more distractions related to Thanksgiving. I will try my best to make up for lost hours and catch up to my deadlines. Thank you all so much for your concern for Skootch! He has always been the more "delicate" of the two cats health-wise (with less meat on his bones), and I am a hovering mother when the kitties are under the weather. Skootch wants to resume his shelter story, and Lucy is getting jealous of all the attention he's been getting, so she will have to have her moment next.
Stay tuned!

hopeful..... I crushed up the appetite stimulator pill and coaxed Skootch into eating 4 or 5 licks - he gasped and drooled and almost yakked, but didn't. Then he was all lovey-dovey. And LO, ran to his food dish (which he never does) and gulped down the teaspoonful that was in there. He wanted more - I gave him the tiniest bit (Dr. Jeff said not to give him too much at one time). When I didn't give him any more, he ran to Lucy's dish and ate HER leftovers. An hour late I gave him another 1/2 teaspoon and he gulped that down. He also started mouse patrol and detected rodent visitor dropping in our kitchen trash. I have NEVER seen Skootch so enthusiastic about food!  I can't believe that pill worked so fast (about 20 minutes). I hope tomorrow he continues to eat.
Cautiously optimistic......... paws crossed. :)
Well, maybe we spoke too soon. My morning was all about another trip to the vet for fluids and another anti-yakking shot. Yes, he ate a LITTLE bit, and then yakked it up. Wah. He ate a little more when we got home - the NEXT step is appetite stimulant pill - and we'll wait until Dad gets home to help administer THAT!!

Well, we went back to the vet today, Skootch only ate 1/2 a teaspoon of food last night, and today I tried smearing some food around his mouth to make him lick it off. I also tried using a food syringe Dr. Jeff gave me, and only succeeded in squirting it on the walls and ceilings (it was very unpredictable!), none in Skootch's mouth! So I took him back to the vet today for more fluids. I even tried tempting him with tuna juice, which is the cats' absolute favorite treat. He only had about 3 licks of tuna juice so far. Lucy, on the other hand, was very happy to clean up the tuna juice in Skootch's bowl. Hmph. I'm stumped.

Okay, we're back from the vet. Skootch got fluids and an anti-yakking shot, and Mom got some reassurance. He really hasn't been himself since we went to the vet last week, so hopefully this will straighten him out. Doctor Jeff, vet extraordinare, said not to worry. So we will all try to calm down and have a good night's rest.
Whew.
Something's the matter with Skootch. He keeps yakking up and he can't eat and I'm worried. We're going to the vet today, no matter what! Poor thing - please send us your purrs.

Skootch's shelter story continued ......

We are all going to the vet today for our annual checkup. Wish us luck! We all HATE going to the vet, and mom has her hands full getting us into our carriers. Then we caterwaul and howl and cry and squeak all the way there. Even though our vet, Dr. Giles, is nice, we HATE to see him. After we get back from the terrible horrible scary trip Mom will do a REAL post, with nice hand-lettering and pictures. But before she does the post, she will give us TREATS for enduring the terrible horrible scary trip, and we will head straight to the bed to try and recover from our ordeal.

I will be going away on vacation for a week, and won't be adding images until I get back. Please be patient, don't go away!! In the meantime, here is a drawing I did a couple of years ago of S + L. This is what they'll be doing while I'm gone. In fact, this is what they do every day - catty-napping on the bed
